About Joy Education

Joy Education Foundation is a technology-driven nonprofit dedicated to reducing inequities in access to affordable literacy support for low-income communities. Through Virtual Reading Clinics, Mobile Reading Clinics, and a Digital Foundational Reading Skills Curriculum, we use innovation and community partnerships to strengthen literacy outcomes. Our next stage of product innovation includes AI-enabled literacy tools and gamified learning experiences that make practice more interactive, personalized, and joyful for students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design on-brand assets for campaigns, programs, and events (social graphics, one-pagers, flyers, slide decks, email and web visuals).
  • Maintain and evolve Joy Education’s visual identity system (typography, color, iconography, templates, and brand guidelines).
  • Build templates and toolkits (Canva/Figma/Google Slides) that enable staff to self-serve while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Produce compelling report and publication layouts (impact briefs, case studies, data summaries), including accessible PDFs.
  • Create graphics and simple animations for web, video, and social; export/rasterize assets optimized for various platforms.
  • Collaborate on data visualization for research, program evaluation, and grant reporting; turn findings into audience-friendly visuals.
  • Support website visuals (hero images, illustrations, infographics, thumbnails) and ensure designs meet accessibility and responsiveness standards.
  • Coordinate with program, development, and community teams to keep materials current and aligned with messaging.
  • Manage asset libraries and file hygiene; name, version, and organize source files for team reuse.
  • Bonus/optional: contribute light photo/video editing and motion graphics for storytelling and highlights.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & Scheduling

  • Draft and design engaging posts for LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • Create graphics, short videos, and highlight reels showcasing student, family, and fellow stories.
  • Maintain a consistent posting schedule aligned with organizational campaigns.

Community Engagement

  • Monitor comments, messages, and mentions across platforms.
  • Amplify content from partners, families, and teaching fellows.
  • Support online campaigns and live events (e.g., literacy weeks, family workshops).

Newsletter & Communications Support

  • Draft monthly family and teaching fellows newsletters (content provided by program staff).
  • Assist with editing, formatting, and distribution of external communications.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Track social media engagement, growth, and trends.
  • Provide monthly reports with recommendations for improvement.

Brand & Messaging Support

  • Ensure consistent voice, visuals, and messaging aligned with Joy Education’s mission.
  • Assist with developing flyers, one-pagers, and digital outreach materials.
Qualifications
  • Current student or recent graduate in communications, marketing, journalism, education, or related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube).
  • Familiarity with design tools (Canva, Adobe Spark, or similar).
  • Interest in education equity, literacy, and community engagement.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks.
